1-to-1 Maths & Physics Tutoring
For A/A* Results and Competitive University Applications
I'm Edward, a Cambridge engineering graduate and full-time tutor. I help students secure A/A* grades at A-Level, excel in Oxbridge admissions tests and prepare for interviews through a structured 1-to-1 approach.

Who I Teach
I work with A-Level Maths and Physics students and applicants targeting Cambridge, Oxford, and Imperial. My teaching is analytical and highly structured, designed for students aiming for top grades, strong admissions test performance, and rigorous interview preparation.
A-Level / GCSE
Targeted support in Maths and Physics focused on problem-solving, exam technique, and consistent A/A* performance.
Admissions Tests (ESAT and TMUA)
Structured preparation for ESAT and TMUA with timed practice, detailed feedback, and strategies for high-scoring scripts.
Interview Preparation
Conversation-based practice for Cambridge, Oxford, and Imperial interviews, developing clear reasoning and calm performance under pressure.
How Tutoring Works
Initial Consultation
We begin with a short conversation to discuss your goals, exams, and current approach. This helps me understand how I can best support you.
Diagnostic and Plan
I identify your strengths and gaps through a diagnostic assessment, then build a personalised learning plan tailored to your specific needs.
Ongoing 1-to-1 Sessions
We meet weekly or biweekly for focused sessions. Between meetings, you'll have homework and I'll provide detailed feedback to track progress.
Initial Academic Consultation
A focused 30-minute call to clarify goals, identify what is limiting progress, and outline a structured plan towards A* grades and competitive university applications.
- Clarify your current position and academic goals
- Identify the key factors limiting progress and confidence
- Decide together whether ongoing structured support would be helpful
I only take on a small number of students to ensure high-quality, tailored support.

Diagnostic Testing
Before we start tutoring, I run a short diagnostic so we both know exactly where you stand. It shows which topics are quietly costing you marks and where we can make the fastest progress, so every lesson and piece of homework is guided by data, rather than intuition or guesswork.
- Identify your weakest topics in minutes
- See exactly what to focus on first
- Turn the results into a clear 4-week plan
A Growing Diagnostic System
The current online diagnostic is built around ESAT-style questions, with versions for TMUA, A-Level and GCSE in development and in-lesson diagnostics already in place across these subjects.

About Edward
I'm a Cambridge engineering graduate with strong first-class results in subjects such as Information Theory and Modelling Risk. Over the past five years, I've helped students excel in Maths, Physics, and university admissions through a data-driven, reasoning-first approach to problem-solving.
I rowed for Cambridge University Boat Club for three years and won the Lightweight Boat Race against Oxford. I have also competed nationally and internationally, including at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. This experience taught me structure, discipline, and focus, qualities I bring to every lesson. I aim to help students build confidence not only for exams but for thinking rigorously in any context.

My Tutoring Approach
I believe real understanding comes from mastering first principles and problem-solving. My sessions emphasise clarity, logical structure, and adaptive feedback, helping students build both technical strength and self-belief. Having experienced the Oxbridge admissions process myself, I guide students through every step, from assessments like ESAT to interviews.
Outside Tutoring
Outside tutoring, I stay active through rowing and long-distance cycling, including a solo ride from Budapest to London. My rowing experience at Cambridge taught me about discipline, structure, and resilience, qualities I bring to both my teaching and my students' preparation.
